Knowledge Locker privacy
One policy.
Clear details.
This policy covers Knowledge Locker websites, community services, support and request forms, and our applications. We do not sell personal information or use third-party advertising trackers.
Website and community
When you create a community account, we receive the email address and public username you provide. We store a protected password representation rather than your password. We also keep the discussions, replies, images, support requests, and other information you choose to submit so we can provide the service.
The website uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and may retain technical request and security logs, including IP addresses and timestamps, for service operation, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. If you contact us, we use the information you provide to review and respond to your request.
Purchases
Apple handles App Store purchases and billing. Our apps may check Apple’s verified purchase or subscription status to unlock paid features. Knowledge Locker does not receive your payment card details from Apple.
For software sold directly by Knowledge Locker, Stripe processes Checkout and payment information under Stripe’s privacy terms. Knowledge Locker receives transaction identifiers, payment and refund status, the customer details Stripe returns for fulfillment, and a receipt link, but not your complete payment-card number. We associate the purchase, accepted license version, entitlement, eligible major software version, and refund status with your Community account. We record authorized release downloads, including the account, release, time, and network address, for delivery, support, security, and abuse prevention.
COMPR3SS
COMPR3SS processes the files and folders you choose locally on your Mac. It does not require a Knowledge Locker account, send analytics or advertising data to Knowledge Locker, or upload your documents, media, previews, or compression results to us. Compression previews use temporary local storage, and output is written only when you choose where to save it.
Discover uses macOS Spotlight metadata to find supported files inside a folder you select. The optional Finder extension receives only the file selections needed to hand your chosen items to COMPR3SS. App preferences are stored on your Mac, and Apple handles purchase status through StoreKit.
SW1ML4N3
SW1ML4N3 is free and has no in-app purchases. Demo Mode uses sample firewalls and servers and opens a simulated Terminal session. It does not make DigitalOcean API requests or connect to a real SSH server.
SW1ML4N3 does not require a Knowledge Locker account and does not send analytics or advertising data to Knowledge Locker. Its settings are stored on your Mac. For live use, your DigitalOcean personal access token is stored in macOS Keychain, and access to a private key file is retained as a security-scoped bookmark; SW1ML4N3 does not copy the private key contents into its settings.
When you use live DigitalOcean features, the app sends your token and the requested firewall and Droplet operations directly to DigitalOcean. Public IP detection contacts api.ipify.org and checkip.amazonaws.com, which receive your public IP address and standard request information. SSH connections are initiated from your Mac to the server you select. These third-party services process data under their own privacy terms; Knowledge Locker does not receive your token, server credentials, firewall details, SSH traffic, or detected address.
SW1ML4N3 is an independent Knowledge Locker app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by DigitalOcean, LLC. DigitalOcean and Droplet are trademarks or registered trademarks of DigitalOcean, LLC or its affiliates.
W3BS1T3S
W3BS1T3S does not require a Knowledge Locker account and does not send analytics or advertising data to Knowledge Locker. It uses the website folders you choose, copies selected sites into an app-managed workspace, and stores managed-site records and preferences on your Mac. It does not upload those files, records, or preferences to us. When the local server is running, it serves the managed copies to browsers on the same Mac at 127.0.0.1. The App Store edition does not listen for connections from other devices.
Sites you create or choose may include links, scripts, images, or other resources from third parties. A browser visiting one of those sites may contact those third parties according to the site’s content and the browser’s settings. Knowledge Locker does not control the privacy practices of content you add to your sites.
R3MOT3
R3MOT3 does not require a Knowledge Locker account. It stores its device identity, paired computer certificates, permissions, and preferences on your Mac. Paired Macs exchange details such as computer name, model, operating system, and serial number so you can recognize them. Screen, keyboard and mouse actions, clipboard items, files you choose to transfer, and SSH terminal traffic are sent between paired Macs only during an authorized session.
When R3MOT3 connects to its remote service, the gateway receives a device identifier and public certificate to enroll the Mac, its network address to establish a connection, paired device identifiers for presence, a temporary pairing code, and connection setup messages. It stores only a hash of the pairing code in live state. Pairing codes expire within five minutes. A relay may carry encrypted session data when the Macs cannot connect directly; the relay does not decrypt screen, clipboard, file, input, or SSH content. Service infrastructure may retain technical request and security logs, including IP addresses and timestamps, for operation and abuse prevention.
N4RR4TOR
N4RR4TOR stores your reading list, listening position, bookmarks, downloaded chapters, display name, and selected state on your iPhone or iPad. It does not use advertising trackers or send app analytics to Knowledge Locker. The app connects to the N4RR4TOR catalog service for search, catalog metadata, cover art, ratings, reviews, and a private profile. If the service is unavailable, catalog requests may go directly to LibriVox. Streaming and downloading audio contact the source media host, which receives standard network request information such as your IP address.
The app creates a random private reference on your device and stores it in Keychain. If you choose Sign in with Apple, the app derives a private reference from Apple's app-specific identifier on your device. Your Apple ID and email are not sent to the N4RR4TOR service. The service transforms the reference into a pseudonymous hash before storing it with your profile, ratings, and reviews. It stores your chosen display name and selected state; the display name appears publicly beside comments, while your state is used privately to find relevant audiobook libraries. Ratings and comments are visible to other listeners. Service infrastructure may retain technical request and security logs, including IP addresses and timestamps, for operation and abuse prevention.
You can remove downloaded chapters, bookmarks, and reading-list entries in the app, and edit a rating or comment. To remove community activity and your service profile, use the privacy request form. For deletion of service profile data associated with your private reference, use the privacy request form. Please contact us before deleting the app if you want help locating that service data. N4RR4TOR is independent of LibriVox, Internet Archive, and library catalog providers; their services have their own privacy practices.
